Most of the books were translated in the first half of the twentieth
century by people (chosen by EI) here in New York, and the manuscripts
traveled back and forth between New York and Kulu many times. Helena
Roerich made many decisions about text, and also removed and/or added
portions of text. Those decisions have always been kept in mind when
work has been done after the passing of EI. Her changes were made when
she was instructed that the Teaching was for the entire world, not just
for Russia. That is why she changed the first line in the first book
from "Into the New Russia" to "Into the New Country" and later to "Into
the New World".
