Еще одна цитата, для просвещения. И по поводу "разоблачений". ЕПБ сейчас очень модно обвинять в том, что она придумала плохих хатха-йогов и хороших раджа-йогов, и что такого разделения на плохой-хороший в Индии никогда не было.
Термин хатха-йога возник в 13 веке с подачи йогического ордена натхов о себе. Термин раджа-йога придумали они же, несколько столетий позже, тоже о себе. Йогические ордена, причем военизированные йогические ордена, с монастырями, армиями, влиянием на политику - были реальностью в Индии (в основном северной) до англичан. Англичане увидели, что эти ордена мешают им контролировать местных правителей и торговлю, и боролись с их влиянием. Так что ко второй половине 19го века никто о них уже не слышал. Натхов трудно назвать орденом. Это собирательный термин для всех йогических орденов, считающих своим основателем Горакнатха, независимо от того, что они практикуют. Кто-то пьет вино и женится, кто-то ходит голый и не женится, кто-то ходит одетый, кто-то считается себя левым, кто-то правым и т.д. Из современных исследователей, Уайт, например, не считает, что они противопоставляли себя друг другу, или делили на какие-то "лагеря". Хотя известно, что большой любви они друг к другу тоже не испытывали.

Но цитата будет не об этом, 1851 год:
Tasawwuf in Sindh has two great divisions, viz., 1st. Jelali; 2nd. Jemali.
The Jelali is supposed to occupy himself in contemplating the terrible qualities of the Supreme Being. The idea is clearly derived form Hindustan, as may be proved by the plactice of the Indian Arpanthi of the present day, who systematically endeavours, by committing every species of crime, to anger the diety into granting him absorbtion by annihilation. The Jelali, as a Moslem, at least apparently so, dares not own to such tenets, but adheres rigidly to the practice. He eats foridden meats, and drinks to intoxication, excusing himself by quoting the divine saying, "Eat ye and drink ye." His immorality and debauchery are known to all: in vindication of himself he quotes the Hadis - "The heart and intention of the believer are of more importance than his words and deeds." The whole of this vile class profess the greatest respect for Ali, and in Sindh are generally the disciples of the celebrated Kalandar, Lal Shah-Baz, to whose tomb ar Sehwan they perform frequent pilgrimages. In India, much study and knowledge of a peculiar kind are required from the Jelali Fakir. ... The initiation of the Jelali is long and ceremonious one... When all is duly concluded, the newly-made Fakir is sent out into the world, a sturdy, irretrivable beggar, unfit for any useful occupation in life, sure of Heaven, and, menawhile, permitted to make the earth as pleasant place as he can, by the liberal use of hemp or spirits, and the pursuit of the most degrading sensuality. The Jelaly Fakirs in Sindh are, generally speaking poor, and live from hand to mouth. Their Pirs are said to recieve about one-third of their gains.
The Jemali Sufis in Sindh, as in the Oriental world generally, are much more respectable class then their Jelali brethren. The letter openly dispense with the formalities of religious worship; the former do not, except in rare instances when inward sanctity is felt, known and acknowledged to be superior to outward forms. In addition to prayer and fasting, the Jemali Sufi is recommended penance and seclusion; silence; meditation in dark and gloomy spots; perpetual devotion; abstinence from food, sleep and carnal enjoyments; perfect love and obedience to his Shaykh, or religious superior; abnegation of self and all worldly ties, and, finally, the strictest attention to the rules and regulations of his order...

Ну и что такого необычного говорила ЕПБ? Да это не индуистские ордена, но аналогия очевидна.
